Ear correction, also known as otoplasty, is a surgical procedure to alter the shape of the ears. During the procedure, the cartilage is reshaped and secured in the desired position to make the ears lie closer to the head or to correct asymmetries.

After the surgery, a bandage is worn for one week. After that, a headband should be worn at night for six weeks. The stitches are removed after two weeks, and mild swelling subsides within a few days.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you will not feel any pain during the operation. In the first few days after treatment, you may experience mild tightness or swelling, but these symptoms can be easily managed with pain medication.

The incisions are made behind the ear so that the scars are barely visible later on. They usually fade completely after a few months.

The result is permanent, as the cartilage is stabilized in its new shape. Further correction is generally not necessary.

Light activities can be resumed after one week. Sports should be avoided for at least four to six weeks so as not to interfere with the healing process.
